OUR APPROACH

Sustainability built into our technology and processes

Quantum technologies hold immense potential to help tackle climate change and many of the world's most pressing challenges. We believe that potential must be realized responsibly, from product design through to end of life. That commitment shapes everything we do, and our work focuses on five key areas.

Sustainable products

Our continuous adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration (cADR) delivers sub-kelvin cooling without using rare helium-3, improving energy efficiency and removing dependence on a scarce, non-renewable resource.

3D printing

In development and various production processes we use 3D printing as a prototyping tool to cut down the production stages needed for metal parts, reducing the energy used and emissions produced to build them.

Measurement as a Service

We sell sub-kelvin measurement time as a service, on our own infrastructure running on green electricity. Keeping those platforms well used rather than idle cuts waste.

Responsible operations

We measure our corporate carbon footprint across all emission scopes, run our operations on green electricity, and act on the largest levers we control.

Circular value chain

Through supplier qualification, life-cycle assessment and end-of-life planning, we build transparency and circularity into our supply chain, and help shape it across the wider quantum industry.

IMPACT

Turning sustainability measures into business value

Sustainability work does not have to be a cost center. Asking what happens to a system's components at the end of their life led us to second-life thinking, then to service-based business models, and from there to service measurements and rental options. Green electricity followed the same pattern: a decision taken for environmental reasons that became an argument in sales conversations.

Win-win-win: customer, company, environment

One well-used platform serving many users is cheaper for our customers, better margin for us through sharing economics, and less negative impact for the environment. That is the kind of overlap we look for deliberately. Measures that work on all three sides are the ones that last.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Contributing to the global goals

The UN Sustainable Development Goals are 17 shared objectives, adopted by all member states in 2015, that set a common agenda for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. Through our technology, operations and value-chain work, kiutra contributes most directly to five of them.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

Decent work and economic growth

We create high-skilled deep-tech jobs under safe, fair conditions and help grow a European quantum industry.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Our core mission: resilient, scalable, innovative cryogenic infrastructure that underpins quantum technologies, backed by continuous R&D.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced inequalities

Reduced inequalities

Through our measurement as a service offering and Quantum Training programs, we widen access to sub-kelvin cooling beyond a few well-resourced labs.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production

Responsible consumption and production

Helium-3-free technology, life-cycle assessment, supplier qualification and circular-economy work keeps in check our use of scarce raw materials.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate action

Climate action

Green-hydro powered operations, full carbon-footprint measurement and technology that avoids emissions and helps customers decarbonize.
