Every quantum platform runs cold. Superconducting and spin-qubit processors operate at millikelvin temperatures, thousandths of a degree above absolute zero. Trapped-ion and photonic systems need cryogenic vacuum and cooled detectors at kelvin temperatures. The temperature differs by modality; the requirement does not.
kiutra builds helium-3-free cooling, from 4 K optical platforms to continuous adiabatic demagnetization refrigerators (cADR) that reach the millikelvin regime and hold it indefinitely. The industry’s incumbent approach, dilution refrigeration, charges helium-3 at every installation. That isotope accumulates from tritium decay over a twelve-year half-life: output cannot be ramped on demand, whatever the price, and the few sources are state-supervised. It is the one input in the quantum stack that scales the wrong way – the more machines the industry builds, the tighter the supply gets.
A chokepoint capable of setting the pace at which quantum technologies can be industrialized at all. Our systems consume no helium-3, and to our knowledge we are the only company offering continuous magnetic cooling commercially. More than 40 systems are in operation on three continents, across academic research groups, research and technology organizations, quantum startups, corporate R&D and big tech. Every one of them is a team building or qualifying quantum hardware on its own devices.
The same technology is now moving from the lab into integrated infrastructure. Our modular architecture separates cooling from payload, so cooling capacity and processors scale independently.
