Puck 80 and LINQER24 integration for faster device characterization

L-Type Rapid with LINQER24 sample packaging solution

Press release: 17 March 2026 – Denver, Colorado

Together with SCALINQ, kiutra is expanding the L-Type Rapid ecosystem to support the integration of the LINQER24 sample packaging solution. With the next-generation L-Type Rapid – now supporting sample diameters of up to 80 mm – quantum hardware and fabrication teams can combine kiutra’s rapid testing cryostat with the quick sample change of the LINQER packaging, creating a seamless workflow for fast device characterization at millikelvin temperatures.

L-Type Rapid and Puck 80

The L-Type Rapid is kiutra’s flagship millikelvin characterization platform, designed for speed and ease of use. Thanks to its patented and fully automatic sample loading, it reduces cooldown times from room temperature to 50 mK to under four hours. Operating across a temperature range of 50 mK to 300 K, it is designed for high-throughput characterisation of quantum devices. A range of optional add-ons — including RF integrations, magnetic shielding, and more — allows teams to tailor the system to their specific measurement needs. With its well-documented Python API, it enables straightforward integration with existing measurement infrastructure and fully automated characterization runs. The release of the next generation puck size, the Puck 80, allows the integration of sample packages of up to 80 mm x 130 mm and connectivity for up to 24 RF and 96 DC lines.

LINQER24

SCALINQ is proud to announce the expansion of its industry-leading packaging portfolio with the launch of a new LINQER model featuring 24 signal lines. Specifically optimized for the kiutra L-Type Rapid, this configuration utilizes SCALINQ’s patented modular technology to enable sample exchanges in minutes without compromising signal integrity. The LINQER24 offers full PCB compatibility with both the LINQER16 and 36, providing researchers with full flexibility to switch between sample sizes and quantities in the same cold finger. Switching from a 10x10mm^2 to two chips of 6x6mm^2 has never been easier. This ecosystem also allows for a plug-and-play transition of chips: from rapid characterization in a kiutra system and directly mounting it into your other LINQER system, or the one in your collaborator’s lab.

LINQER24 and L-Type Rapid

The L-Type Rapid and LINQER sample packages are designed around the same core principle: eliminating unnecessary steps between you and your measurement data. By introducing the LINQER24 and making it compatible with kiutra’s new Puck 80, SCALINQ and kiutra enable quantum hardware teams to streamline and accelerate their development workflows staying ahead in the race toward practical quantum computing.

  • Faster iteration cycles: automated sample handling in the L-Type Rapid combined with LINQER24’s quick-sample-exchange design, dramatically speeds up development cycles.
  • One system, many users: The LINQER24 and L-Type Rapid make a shared cryostat genuinely practical — each researcher or student arrives with their own sample kit, swaps it in within minutes, and measures, regardless of chip size, quantity, or thickness, with no setup overhead passed on to the next user and results within the same day.
  • Seamless transition from characterisation to operation: because the LINQER24 is fully compatible with SCALINQ’s broader LINQER ecosystem, devices characterised on the L-Type Rapid can move directly into an operation platform without re-bonding, eliminating a costly and time-consuming step in the development workflow.
